White Nights Pants Knitting Pattern (English)

White Nights Pants are a pair of fitted trousers with an elasticated waist, straight legs and a scalloped finish that creates a slight flare at the bottom. The pattern consists of alternating lace and smock sections, offset from one another to form diagonal lines.

The trousers are worked from the top down. First, the waistband is worked in the round in rib and lace and fitted with trouser elastic. The pattern is then established while increases are worked on each side of the crotch seam at the front and back, together with short rows at the back for a good fit. Decreases are worked over the upper part of the leg, reducing the stitch count to accommodate complete pattern repeats. From here, the leg is worked straight and finished with a folded scalloped edge.

Choice of size

The design is intended to have approximately 2–14 cm of negative ease, depending on the size. This means that you should choose a size that measures 2-14 cm less than your own hip measurement. For example, if your hip measurement is 102 cm, you should choose a size M with a hip circumference of 98 cm.
