Stairway To Heaven Sweater Knitting Pattern (English)

The Stairway To Heaven Sweater is a classic looking model with an european shoulder construction, a moderate positive ease, sleeves with decreases underneath, and finishing ribbing trims in 2x2 rib. The pattern consists of two-coloured ribbing (jacquard) in displaced sequences of different colours, separated by stripes of lace pattern.

Begin on the back piece working back and forth and shaping the shoulder seam working increases on each side. Next knit up stitches along the shoulder seams and work the front pieces back and forth. Work increases along the neckline and join the front pieces by casting on stitches along the bottom of the neckline. Work back and forth until the arm holes have been shaped. Now the back and front pieces are joined and worked in the round. The body is finished with a 2x2 rib trim.

Knit up stitches along the arm hole and work the sleeve in the round with decreases integrated into the pattern. The sleeve is finished with a 2x2 rib trim.

Knit up stitches along the neckline and work the neck in the round in a 2x2 rib, which is folded and knitted onto the backside of the work while at the same time binding off.

The sweater has a positive ease of 10-15 cm. This means you should choose a size measuring 10-15 cm more than your chest circumference. If your chest measures 96 cm, you should choose a size M with a circumference of 111 cm.
