Straight Up Bolero Knitting pattern (English)

Straight Up Bolero is a model with a tight fit in a delicate striped structure, made of stockinette stitch and purl rows and also the shift between 1 and 2 strands of yarn.

The back of the work is narrow, and the sleeves are straight.

The bolero is worked from the centre of the back in each direction across the shoulder and sleeve. Cast on using Judy’s magic cast-on method, and work the left side of the back piece back and forth shaping the back of the neck and the armhole working increases. The work is joined by casting on loops, and the sleeve is worked in the round. The sleeve is finished with a rolling hem. The edge along shoulders and neck is finished with an i-cord trim.

Choice of size

The bolero has a positive ease of 1-2 cm. This means you should choose a size measuring 1-2 cm more than your width of the back. If you are broad-shouldered you should go up a size. The width of the back is the amount of centimetres from each top of the folds between back and arms (when the arms are relaxed down by your side). If your back width is 36 cm, you should choose a size M with a back width of 37 cm.
