Formation Cardigan Knitting Pattern (English)

Formation Cardigan is a model with a casual fit, v-neck, wide ribbing and a double knit placket. The pattern is created by a mock honeycomb stitch described below.

The model is worked top down. Starting with the neckline the cardigan is worked back and forth, and simultaneously the stitch count is increased by both the shoulder stitches and towards the neckline. The work is divided in front- and back piece in order to shape both armholes. After the armhole the work is joined again, worked back and forth and finished with half-twisted ribbing. The sleeves are worked top down with decreases integrated into the pattern for a seamless look. Stitches are knit up along the armholes, and the sleeves are worked in the round with decreases underneath the arm. The sleeves are finished with half-twisted ribbing. Finally stitches are knit up along the sides, and neck of the cardigan, and the placket and button band is worked in double knit stitch.

Choice of size

The cardigan has a positive ease of 10-15 cm. This means that you should choose the size measuring 10-15 cm more than your chest circumference. If your chest measures 96 cm, you should choose a size M with a circumference of 110 cm.
